Background

Ramsey Zimmerman is a 50-something year old husband, and father of two college-aged children. He lives in Olympia, Washington and regularly attends Reality Church (www.realityolympia.com). Ramsey grew up in Williamsburg, Virginia and his sister, mother and father live in North Carolina.

Education

Ramsey has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia with a major in Environmental Science and a Masters of Business from the University of Michigan with a focus on Marketing. In September 2024, Ramsey began study as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner through the Nutritional Therapy Association and for the Certified Holistic Health Specialist through the Institute of Transformational Nutrition.

Interests

Ramsey is currently learning all he can about the Health and Wellness Space in order to meet his new professional goals of helping others to “build mind, body and spirit wellness towards Peace of Mind, Vitality of Body and Joy of Spirit.” He arrived there by exploring his various interests in the “What’s Worthwhile?” podcast. Those interests fall into the following categories:

Sustainable Energy – Ramsey’s career has focused on promoting cost-effective solutions to transition energy infrastructure to renewable sources and energy storage, while maintaining grid resilience.

Christian Spirituality – Ramsey has a deep Christian faith, and practices regular prayer and meditation to seek God and connect with Him. He is intrigued by the energy centers of the body (chakras) and the effects of certain sounds (solfeggio frequencies).

Health and Fitness – Ramsey looks for natural means to boost immunity through nutrition, vitamins, supplements, exercise, sleep and limiting pharmaceuticals and chemical exposure.

Political Reform – Ramsey is interested in political reform, particularly through reducing 2-party system dominance and overhauling the election process for legitimacy and fairness.

Cultural Bridge Building – Ramsey supports efforts by people and organizations to bridge the many divides that exist in our culture today including right/left, black/white, and citizens/immigrants to name a few.

Professional Experience

Ramsey has a wide range of professional experience in related industries. Most recently, Ramsey arranged opportunities for personal loans to install solar energy systems. He has sold managed IT services, exhibit booth spaces and recycling services. Ramsey has developed and managed programs in the areas of energy efficiency, economic development and residential green building design. He has worked with small businesses to secure start-up grant funding and to scale-up their marketing and sales. Ramsey has planned workshops and entire conferences for trade associations and non-profit member organizations.

Program Development

At heart, Ramsey is a start-up specialist and builder. He has many achievements in Program Development. Ramsey led the development for a sophisticated loan origination system for solar loans for a credit union. He developed service programs for residential energy efficiency evaluations (don’t call them audits … people HATE audits!). Ramsey led the design and construction of a green building demonstration house inside of a warehouse dedicated to selling reusable building materials. He led the effort to promote the first available residential solar energy loans in Washington state by using a novel subsidy model.

Writing

Ramsey is an avid writer, using many formats. Professionally, he writes grant proposals, management plans, copy for brochures, technical manuals and knowledge bases. Ramsey has written blog posts, web magazine articles, web pages, entire web sites and countless emails. He writes frequently in his journals, which often become podcast material.

Speaking

Ramsey has extensive public speaking experience, including presenting conference sessions, preaching at church, guest speaking for middle school classes and leading training webinars and videos. He has hosted and MC’d networking meetings at the chamber of commerce. Ramsey has also spoken at a wedding and led a funeral for a friend’s father.

Group Facilitation

Ramsey is a steady, confident and natural group facilitator. He has facilitated groups of 3 to 10 and 80 to 100. Ramsey is skilled and trained in strategic planning facilitation and the World Cafe model. He regularly facilitates team and Board of Directors meetings. He has facilitated groups including local governments, nonprofits, businesses, students and volunteer interest groups.

Volunteering

Ramsey is highly engaged in his local community. He is the Board Chair for the Pacific Northwest Theater (www.pnwtheater.com), where both of his kids grew up performing. Ramsey was a leader in the Olympia High School Community Council, where he facilitated the annual Community Cafe for six years in a row. He is a member of the leadership Culture Team (“C-Team”) at Reality Church. He formerly volunteered for the online political reform group The People (www.thepeople.org).

Sports and Hobbies

Ramsey loves to run and build stuff. In his younger days, he played a lot of soccer. Ramsey tries to run 5 or 6 miles two or three times per week. He enjoys building things out of wood or cardboard or Legos.
